Improving File Transfer in Fcs Networks

چکیده
We compare the performance of two transport protocols, SCTP and the New-Reno variant of TCP, for file transfers in two FCS networking scenarios. We argue why SCTP is better suited for file transfers in a network prone to resource failures. To measure performance, we implemented FTP over SCTP in a FreeBSD environment. Our results indicate for our tested path configurations, (1) using SCTP as the transport for FTP significantly reduces file transfer time, and (2) FTP over SCTP is more robust

File Transfer in Fcs Networks Using Transport Layer Multistreaming*
We identify overheads associated with the current FTP protocol, which uses TCP for transport. We discuss why using TCP to avoid such overheads puts a burden on the application. Unlike TCP, SCTP allows transport layer multistreaming within a single association. We present two modifications to FTP, which use SCTP multistreaming in a “TCP-friendly” manner. Our modifications avoid the identified ov...
متن کاملA Comparative Study on Improving the Latency Time of File Access Using Standard Backpropagation Neural Networks
The data or file will be required to be moved from secondary memory to main memory for executing certain instructions. The time taken to transfer the data is referred as latency time. The In this paper a detailed study on various file access predictors and caching techniques is discussed. The various file operations such as file prediction, file creation, file deletion, file modification and fi...
متن کاملImproving performance of Client-Proxy-Server service model on Mobile Ad hoc networks through prediction of mobility broken link
In this paper, we present a comparative study in a MANET environment. MANET is specifically characterized by high mobility of network nodes and frequent changes of direct visibility. We study the characteristics and performance of routing protocols that support multiple transmissions in ad hoc wireless networks, under different network loads, number of nodes within the network and mobility para...
متن کاملData File Standard for Flow Cytometry, version FCS 3.1.
The flow cytometry data file standard provides the specifications needed to completely describe flow cytometry data sets within the confines of the file containing the experimental data. In 1984, the first Flow Cytometry Standard format for data files was adopted as FCS 1.0. This standard was modified in 1990 as FCS 2.0 and again in 1997 as FCS 3.0. We report here on the next generation flow cy...
متن کاملImproving Data Grids Performance by Using Modified Dynamic Hierarchical Replication Strategy
Abstract: A Data Grid connects a collection of geographically distributed computational and storage resources that enables users to share data and other resources. Data replication, a technique much discussed by Data Grid researchers in recent years creates multiple copies of file and places them in various locations to shorten file access times. In this paper, a dynamic data replication strate...
